Long Coc Tea, when brewed, typically has a light green and very clear color, offering a natural aroma and a harmonious blend of three flavors: bitterness, astringency, and sweetness, making it easy to drink with a deep aftertaste.
Pham Thi Hanh, Director of the Long Coc Safe Tea Production Cooperative (Cooperative), shared that the cooperative was established in 2018 with 20 member households. Currently, it cultivates 37 hectares of tea, of which 12 hectares are certified VietGAP. To produce high-quality tea buds that meet standards, cooperative members use manual harvesting methods. Tea leaves are hand-picked early in the morning, between 5 and 9 a.m., when the dew is still present, to avoid intense sunlight that can cause the tea to wilt and lose its sweetness. After harvesting, the tea is sorted and pan-fried multiple times at high temperatures to curl the leaves, ensure proper dryness, and preserve its natural and unique flavor.
The commune now has four OCOP-certified tea products, including: Premium Long Coc Bat Tien Tea, Bat Tien Tip Tea, Specialty Tip Tea (OCOP 4-star), and Shan Tuyet Tea (OCOP 3-star), all produced by the Long Coc Safe Tea Production Cooperative. These products are widely distributed across most provinces and cities in Vietnam and are available in supermarket chains such as Winmart and Coopmart.
